Confusion Over Conversion: Inches To CM And Pixels To Megapixels

It’s incredible that, while most countries went through the great metric changeover last century confusion still surrounds inches and centimeters, with many people not knowing what each is.

It’s almost on a par with confusion over the difference between mega pixels and pixels.

We are always here to help at EasiNet Quality Bargains, so here is a quick guide to how to convert between measurements from the metric system and imperial system, and how to tell the difference between a megapixel and a pixel.

If you are from the U.S. or the U.K. you may have noticed that we use metric measurements for all our products.

When in doubt you can just follow these rules of thumb:

Imperial Measurements Explained

  • 1 inch is the same as 2.54 centimeters OR 25.4 millimeters
  • 1 foot measures 30.48 centimeters OR 12 inches
  • 1 pound weighs the same as 0.453 kilograms

Metric Measurements Explained

  • 1 millimeter(mm) equals 0.039 inches
  • 1 centimeter(cm) is the same as 0.393 inches OR 10 mm
  • 1 meter is the same as 3.28 feet OR 39.37 inches OR 100 cm
  • 1 kilogram (kg) weighs 2.2 pounds (lb)

Pixels And Megapixels

While converting pixels to megapixels might not seem as important as changing inches to centimeters it can be vital, especially if you are doing and photography work or comparing one camera to another one.

Essentially one megapixel is the same as 1,000,000 pixels.

To work out how many megapixel something has you just need to multiply the horizontal pixels by the vertical pixels and see what you get.

So, something that has a resolution of 640×480 pixels has the equivalent resolution of 0.3 megapixels.

640×480 = 307,200 pixels

And something that has a resolution of 1280×1024 pixels has an equivalent resolution of 1.3 megapixels.

1280×1024 = 1,310,720 pixels

A good tip to remember is that when comparing cameras, you should compare the native resolution of the camera and not the software interpolated resolution of the camera.

If you follow these tips you’ll be happy dealing with any measurement in no time.

Loggers, Trackers, and Receivers, GPS Gadgets Explained

No matter whether you want to find the best route for a cross country trip, locate your car in the parking lot, or track down a family member when they're out. GPS is what you need.

Global Positioning System (GPS) is a system of navigation satellites orbiting the earth.

GPS gadgets like those available from EasiNet Quality Bargains receive signals from these satellites to give you information about where you are and where you want to be.

Thanks to advances in technology, innovative engineering, and fierce competition among manufacturers, a wealth of amazing GPS gadgets is now available at record low prices for consumers everywhere.

Today, I'm going to give you a side-by-side comparison of these amazing GPS gadgets and an overview of their different functions.

Location Finder

The location finder function lets you find your way back to a place you have been before.

First you have to save the target destination into the device, usually just by pressing a button.

When you want to return to that location later, just press another button, and arrows on the device will light up to indicate the correct direction.

This is great for finding your car in a big parking lot or finding your way back to your hotel or camp site.

GPS Reciever via USB

Devices with this functionality let you turn your computer into a fully functional GPS unit.

Just plug the GPS device into a USB port on your laptop, notebook, or netbook computer, and it immediately begins locating GPS satellite signals.

You will need your own GPS software to make full use of this GPS receiver. This is great for locating your position when you’re camping or planning the next day’s route.

GPS Reciever via Bluetooth

This function lets you pair the GPS device with your smart phone or PDA via Bluetooth. The GPS device then acts as a GPS signal receiver for your smart phone or PDA. Your will need your own GPS software to use your phone as a GPS navigator.

Data Logger

The data logger function captures and stores GPS data such as coordinates, speed, and altitude during your trip.

After your trip, you can plug the GPS device into your computer and view your logged paths right on Google Maps or Google Earth.

Photo Tagger

The photo tagger feature is actually a function of the software that accompanies a GPS device.

Devices with the photo tagger feature also have the data logger function. After you have loaded your logged GPS paths onto your computer, use the photo tagger software to paste your photos and captions onto any point along your path.

You can then embed GPS info into your photos and upload them to Flickr Maps so that family and friends all over the world can see your pictures and the exact location where you took them!

Frequent travelers and photographers will love the ability to put their photos literally on the map.

Tracker with SMS Function

This feature lets you track the movement of your GPS device (and whatever or whoever it is attached to).

After you insert a SIM card into this device, you can send a text message to the device at any time, and it will respond with its GPS coordinates and other data. Some GPS trackers can be configured to send you their coordinates periodically. This is great for keeping an eye on family members and looking out for their safety.

When choosing a GPS device whether it be from us a EasiNet Quality Bargains or another supplier bear in mind that not all devices have an Internal Battery, Some GPS devices have no internal battery and must be connected to a power source, for example a USB port on a computer or a cigarette adapter in a car.

GPS devices with internal batteries can be carried around in your pocket or on your keychain. However they can also be charged by a solar charger.

How Do Digital Picture Frames Work

We have a large range of Digital Picture Frames you can see them on our main website and and on Ebay

Do you have at least one technologically challenged relative, well with a Digital Photo Frame you can e-mail photos or post them on a personal Web page for some of our loved ones, but there are others who want nothing to do with a computer, let alone the Internet.

The perfect gadget for sharing photos with the computerless is digital picture frame. This is a device about the size and shape of an ordinary picture frame. It contains an LCD screen, which displays multiple photos in a slideshow format, and it connects to the Internet via phone line to download new pictures and information to display on the screen.

Digital picture frames, the frames are fairly similar in construction, though they do offer some different features.

The frame is actually a very simple computer. It has most of the same components as the computer on your desktop, but they're a lot simpler in the frame because they only have to perform a single task.

The picture frame is designed to enable people with no computer, no digital camera and no computer skills to benefit from some aspects of the digital boom. The idea is that a person who does have a computer, a digital camera and computer skills buys the computerless person a Digital Picture Frame, sets up an account with a server that supports the technology and passes images emails on etc.

Once the account is set up, you (the person with the computer) upload photos to the web each night, the digital picture frame (in the computerless person's house) uses the phone line to connect to the servers and download any new pictures.

The next morning, the new pictures automatically show up in the slideshow rotation. You can also control all of the frame's settings normally via the hosting site. Some of the settings that can be adjusted are the time that the frame turns on and turns off, the slideshow interval (how long between photos) and the dial-up phone numbers (in case the frame moves to a different area code)

Once the frame has been plugged into a phone line and a power outlet, it starts to display the pictures that were originally stored on the frame. If the user presses and holds the button on the back of the frame, it dials up and connects to the Internet.

When it is finished downloading, the frame hangs up the phone line and starts displaying the new photos one after another. It turns itself off at the set time in the evening, and back on at the set time in the morning.

Digital Picture Frames make wonderful gifts for relatives that live a long way away from each other sometimes in other another country.

The Dallas Texans - The last Team to go Belly-Up!

Sports memorabillia is always worth collecting , you can catch loads of it Here.... and the history of these teams is interesting too. Take for instamce the Dallas Texans:

The 1952 Dallas Texans were a National Football League franchise born of failure. The team was actually a transplanted version of the New York Yanks.

When Yanks owner Ted Collins decided that eight years of red ink was enough, he sold his ailing franchise back to the league. A few weeks later then-NFL commissioner Bert Bell surprised the sports world when he announced that the franchise had been sold to a group of Dallas investors headed by Giles Miller, a young Texas millionaire.

Whether courageous or crazy, Miller was absolutely confident. "There is room enough in Texas for all kinds of football," he prophetically announced. Unfortunately, the only place in Dallas to prove that there was "room enough" for pro football, was the 75,000 seat Cotton Bowl. In their brief stay in Dallas, the largest crowd the Texans managed to draw was 17,499 curious spectators on opening day.

The Texans’ inaugural game actually began on an optimistic note - they scored first. Just minutes into the game the Texans recovered a punt fumbled by a Giants defensive back. Two plays later the Texans scored. Sequence photos of the scoring pass-play show that the nearest Giants defender was the same defensive back who had set up the drive with his fumble - Tom Landry. The Texans missed the extra point (something they would do six more times during the season) and the Giants went on to win 24-6.

The last three games were against the Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Chicago Bears. It was decided that the Lions and Eagles would serve as hosts to the Texans, while the Bears would meet the vagabond team in Akron, Ohio.

The Akron game was actually the second half of a football Thanksgiving double header with a high school morning game outdrawing the pros. There were so few fans in the stands that in his pre-game remarks Texans coach Jimmy Phelan suggested that rather than introducing the players on the field, they should "go into the stands and shake hands with each fan."

Phelan had not lost his sense of humor and the team had not lost their will to win. The Texans stunned the Bears with a 27-23 victory. Following losses to the Eagles and Lions, the Texans folded.

Just why the Texans failed was a combination of bad management and bad luck. As Phelan put it, "We got all the breaks and they were all bad."
